My Approach
I work from a psychodynamic and psychoanalytic perspective, with attention to unconscious patterns in the service of deeper self-understanding. The therapeutic relationship provides a space in which aspects of experience can gradually come into view and shift over time.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Psychodynamic psychotherapy may be useful for those navigating a specific concern, conflict, or life transition, as well as for those who have begun to notice recurring patterns in relationships, emotional life, or work that feel difficult to change. It typically involves meeting once or twice per week and offers a space to reflect on present experience in relation to one’s history, relationships, and inner life.
This work allows for a deeper understanding of patterns that shape how one experiences oneself and others, including those that are not immediately apparent, supporting over time an improved sense of well-being and overall functioning.
Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis is suited for individuals drawn to a more sustained process of self-examination, particularly when longstanding questions of identity, intimacy, desire, or meaning are central. It is a more intensive form of treatment, typically involving three to four sessions per week, allowing for deeper and more continuous engagement with unconscious life.
Over time, aspects of experience that have not yet found language may begin to emerge, and entrenched ways of relating are loosened. The analytic relationship becomes a primary site of this work, where experience can be observed and gradually come into clearer form as it unfolds, often accompanied by a deepening sense of well-being and greater freedom in how one relates to oneself and others.
Areas of Focus
I work with adults navigating relationship difficulties, emotional struggles, and questions of identity, desire, and intimacy. Many are thoughtful, high-functioning, and creative; outwardly composed yet privately uncertain about who they are or what they want. They may find it difficult to sustain satisfying intimate relationships or live with a persistent sense of dissatisfaction that is hard to name. This can be felt as a disconnection from oneself or others, or as anger, loneliness, fear, or sadness that does not fully make sense. What brings someone in is often a more immediate symptom or conflict, but the work often turns toward a deeper inquiry into the ways one comes to experience oneself and others.
Fees
My fee is $200 per 50-minute session. I do not accept insurance directly, but I can provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan.
I maintain a limited number of reduced-fee openings and am happy to discuss this if cost is a concern, particularly for those meeting at higher frequency.
Cancellations require at least 24 hours' notice; otherwise, the full session fee will be charged.
Additional Notes
This work is exploratory and unfolds over time. It is not a structured or directive approach, and it is not oriented toward symptom reduction as a primary goal. If you are seeking a more structured, directive, or short-term approach, another style of therapy may be a better fit.
I travel periodically throughout the year and provide advance notice when I do.
